Materials

When you were choosing an outfit from your wardrobe this morning, your thoughts were probably with the day ahead of you.
Let’s say this is a typical Saturday, and you choose a simple T-shirt and jeans. But where did these clothes actually come from?
Where did their journey take them, and what kind of impact did this journey have on your environment, or the worldwide environment?
It is important to consider the style and use of the garment when choosing the fabric. The style of a garment affects the material,
and the material is a significant part of the look of the garment. Two pieces of clothing made with the same pattern but of different
fabrics can look very different. The use of a garment is also an important factor to keep in mind when choosing the fabric. If the garment
needs to be warm, we pick a thicker and tighter material. Similarly, if the garment needs to be durable we choose a fabric that is hard-wearing.
However, all garments should be made to last as long as possible, so it’s always wise to choose good quality materials.

Organic cotton is generally understood as cotton and is grown in subtropical countries such as Turkey, China, USA from non genetically modified plants,
that is believed to be grown without the use of any synthetic agricultural chemicals such as fertilizers or pesticides.
Cotton is a soft, fluffy staple fiber that grows in a boll, or protective case, around the seeds of the cotton plants of the genus Gossypium.

Cotton farm

Most cotton in the United States, Europe and Australia is harvested mechanically, either by a cotton picker, a machine that removes
the cotton from the boll without damaging the cotton plant, or by a cotton stripper, which strips the entire boll off the plant.
Cotton is a perennial crop in the tropics, and without defoliation or freezing, the plant will continue to grow.

The cotton is almost pure cellulose. Under natural conditions, the cotton bolls will increase the dispersal of the seeds. The fiber is most often spun into yarn or
thread and used to make a soft, breathable textile. The use of cotton for fabric is known to date to prehistoric times; fragments of cotton fabric dated from
5000 BC have been excavated in Mexico and between 6000 BC and 5000 BC in the Indus Valley Civilization. Although cultivated since antiquity, it was the invention
of the cotton gin that lowered the cost of production that led to its widespread use, and it is the most widely used natural fiber cloth in clothing today.

The information in this graph is displayed for easier visual identification of certain materials and clothing that
follows that material, that is, the clothes that are made of that materials. 97% of all products are made from
minimum 93% of cotton where there is an addition of elastane or polyester in a minimum percentage that is
mixed with cotton to achieve the effect of stretching, always, except in the case of 100% cotton.

Understanding different clothing-related symbols is not always easy, but it is very important to follow the instructions carefully in order to achieve the best possible results during the washing process. Every piece of clothing has a stamp with marks for washing and maintenance. No matter how modern washing machines are "smart", proper respect for these labels will prolong the life of your clothes.
Before putting clothes into the washing machine, sort clothes by color, materials and the recommended washing temperature. Light and dark, colorful clothes are washed separately, and objects of similar colors and washing temperatures together. Some clothing items are sensitive to oxygen-based blemishes and therefore pay particular attention to whether you can use a bleach for washing clothes. Before putting clothes into machine, close and empty the pockets.

In the extension there is a maintenance chart with all the symbols you can find, where you just need to look at the symbols
on the label of a particular product and compare them with this chart to know exactly what to do with clothes:
